Coronavirus Act

I completely understand concerns about the Coronavirus Act. It is not legislation which any parliamentarian would relish supporting, but it is important as we continue our local and national effort against Coronavirus.

Planning Reforms

I am deeply worried about the impact the Government’s proposed reforms to the planning system would have on our community.

Animal Cruelty

There is no place in this country for animal cruelty and we must ensure that those who abuse animals are met with the full force of the law.

Covid-19 and Cultural Sectors

I recognise the huge impact that coronavirus has had on performing arts in our country and have particularly welcomed the opportunities to discuss matters facing the industry through Creative Diversity APPG roundtables.

Social Care

We must all receive dignified care in old age and, with an ageing population, this is one of the biggest challenges our country faces. I support the Government’s commitment to making sure that the most vulnerable in society gain the support they need.

Airline Refunds

I appreciate that airlines are having to process a very large number of refund applications and calls, and that this unprecedented demand on their systems and processes has resulted in some delays to refunds being processed.

Fisheries Management

I share your understandable concern about the protection and health of British waters; our waters are a precious natural resource and they must be managed with care.

Clean Air

It is encouraging that air pollution has reduced significantly since 2010. Emissions of nitrogen oxides have fallen by 33 per cent and are at their lowest level since records began, however, there is still more to do.

Illegal dog and puppy imports

Government takes the issue of illegal dog and puppy imports very seriously. This abhorrent trade causes suffering to the smuggled dogs and puts health at risk.
