April 2024, Maidstone/Malling, Kent: The fight against overdevelopment in the Hermitage Lane area stepped up a gear after a packed public meeting and official opposition from Helen Grant MP last week. But residents only have until Friday 3rd May to complete the online consultation.

Now, Local MPs Helen Grant and Tracey Crouch are urging residents to take the opportunity to ensure their voice is heard before it is too late.

Tracey Crouch MP posted on Facebook stating she will be “objecting to these proposals in the strongest possible terms” while Helen Grant has this week ‘officially’ responded to the consultation with the following statement: “These housing development proposals will impose impossible new pressures on local infrastructure that is already creaking at its limits.

The plan will also remove yet another large open space between Maidstone and Aylesford, exacerbating the continuous urban sprawl across our precious open countryside.

My neighbour Tracey Crouch MP and I will be working with local stakeholders to do all we can to oppose this plan. Watch my Facebook page for future updates.”

Many key stakeholders have already come out in opposition including Councillors from Ditton and Aylesford Parish Councils as well as Maidstone Borough Council at a packed public meeting at Ditton Community Centre on Monday 15th April.
