Policy / campaign enquiry responses

Black lives matter
Anti Fracking campaign

Every day, I receive dozens of policy, petition and campaign emails from constituents concerned about a huge variety of national issues. While individual constituency enquiries will be answered by email or letter, due to the vast increase in the volume of emails now being generated, I can no longer guarantee replying to these individually and am therefore posting my responses on this section of my website.

Police

Public Order Bill

I understand that some people have concerns about the measures being introduced through  the Public Order Bill to reduce the impact of protests on people's day to day lives.

Childcare Support

I have noted the concerns of those who took place in the ‘March of the Mummies’ protest last year and appreciate the strength of my constituents who have shared this campaign with me. It is vital that all parents have access to childcare.

EU Flag

Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill

In January 2022, the Government announced plans to bring forward a Bill to create a more innovative regulatory regime that would not have been possible were the UK still a member of the European Union.

Genetic Tech

Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Bill

The Government is working to encourage agricultural and scientific innovation in the UK through legislation, opening the potential of new technologies to promote sustainable and efficient farming and food production.

Farming

Future of Farming

I have received a large amount of correspondence from a number of constituents who are understandably concerned with the future of farming.

Parliament

National Security Bill

The threat from hostile states is a growing, diversifying and evolving one, manifesting itself in several different forms.

Bikes

Commitments to 'Gear Change'

The Government is investing over £2 billion in cycling and walking over the course of this Parliament. As part of this, the 2021 Autumn Budget included £710 million of new investment in active travel funding over the next three years.

Hedgerows

Protection of Hedgerows

Hedgerows are one of the most important ecological building blocks in our farmed landscape. They maintain the distinctive character of our countryside and provide crucial habitats and food for wildlife.

Homelessness

Homelessness

The Government is committed to ending rough sleeping once and for all by 2024.

Baby Loss

Baby Loss

This issue unfortunately affects many people, and I offer my sympathy to those who have suffered miscarriages, stillbirths, or the loss of child. I applaud my colleagues who have recounted this painful experience in their lives in Parliament to raise awareness of baby loss and inspire changes in

Abortion 2

Abortion Clinic 'buffer zones'

This country has a proud history of allowing free speech but the right to peaceful protest does not extend to harassment or threatening behaviour. The law already provides protection against harassment and intimidation, and the police have a range of powers to manage protests.

Fracking

Fracking

First, I would like to make clear that our new Prime Minister supports the core ambitions of the 2019 manifesto on which this Government was elected. The Government will therefore revert to a precautionary approach regarding shale gas exploration in England.
