I am immensely disappointed that the new government plan to scrap the Winter Fuel Allowance, despite no mention of doing so in their manifesto or general election campaign. Our pensioners have worked hard all their lives and must be afforded dignity and respect in retirement.
I have joined 400,000 people in signing Age UKs petition to save the Winter Fuel Allowance and absolutely oppose the government’s plan. I am urging other MPs to follow suit – we all have many constituents that will be affected by this and must do everything we can to stop it happening.
