Parliamentarians for peace

Pleased to join Mr Speaker and my parliamentary colleagues at New Palace Yard to mark 76 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. For nearly eight decades, this landmark declaration has championed equality, freedom, and justice as the foundation of thriving societies.

Yet, in recent years, escalating wars and conflicts have caused immense suffering and displacement, underscoring the urgent need for global solidarity and leadership. As parliamentarians, we have a responsibility to address the root causes of conflict and promote peaceful dialogue. We must all strive for a world where human rights and peace prevail.
