Very welcome news for households across Maidstone and Malling this morning! Ofwat announce action against South East Water following serious failures in water supply and customer service.
I have been fighting on behalf of my constituents who have suffered failure after failure from SEW, so it's good to see the company have agreed to fund a £30.5 million package to put things right, at no cost to customers.
The package includes £13 million to improve the resilience of the water network, £5 million for on-site water storage for schools, businesses and farms, £5 million for free water butts for households, and £1.5 million for a community fund to support the areas most affected.
I'll continue to hold SEW to account to make sure these commitments are delivered. Residents deserve a reliable water supply and a company that gets the basics right.
