It was wonderful to visit Making Miracles in Maidstone recently and meet their inspirational, passionate and determined team including Kelly Wells (Founder and CEO), Sally Howells (Chairman), and two fantastic local volunteers.
Since 2014, this incredible local charity has been supporting families through the heartbreak of baby loss, offering bereavement counselling, support groups, play therapy for children, support for grandparents, and a powerful online podcast helping parents feel less alone.
I was also deeply moved to hear about their Baby Memorial Garden, their work with older residents through community craft groups, and their unique partnership with Maidstone Prison, where inmates create handmade wooden items which are sold to help raise funds for the charity’s services.
Their shop, Handmade with Love by Making Miracles in The Mall, is full of beautiful handmade items created by volunteers and supporters from across our community, with every purchase helping fund this vital work.
The first week of June marks National Volunteers’ Week, and Making Miracles is hosting a coffee and cake afternoon on Tuesday 2 June from 12–2pm to thank its current volunteers and give anyone interested in joining its amazing team the opportunity to learn more about the valuable work they do. Please support them if you can!
