Concerns About the Proposed Conversion of The Grange Moor into a 42-Bed HMO:
I have been contacted by a number of constituents regarding a planning application to convert the former Grange Moor Hotel in St Michael's Road, Maidstone, into a 42-bed House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).
While HMOs can form part of the local housing mix and provide affordable accommodation, I share serious concerns about the appropriateness of this application, given the existing pressures facing the area, including parking provision, GP services, and community facilities. These concerns are particularly relevant given the existing and disproportionate concentration of HMOs in Fant Ward and the wider ME16 area.
As your MP, I have no statutory authority over planning applications. I would therefore strongly encourage any concerned residents to make their views known both to their local Maidstone Borough Councillor and directly through the planning portal. You have until 21 September to submit your comments, and you may find this link helpful: https://pa.midkent.gov.uk/online.../applicationDetails.do...
Please be assured that I will continue to monitor this local matter very closely and make representations on behalf of my constituents wherever appropriate.
