Today I hosted a very productive follow-up roundtable meeting to discuss the chronic lack of parking and insufficient public transport links to and from West Malling railway station.
I know this is a major issue affecting many constituents across the ME19 area, and I was pleased to bring together key partners, including representatives from Kings Hill Parish Council (Cllr Sarah Barker), West Malling Parish Council (Cllr David Thompson), Southeastern, Nu-Venture, Arriva, Network Rail, the Leader of Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, Cllr Matt Boughton, and local councillors Cllr Kim Tanner and Cllr Sarah Hudson.
While there is still more work to do, I am encouraged that progress is being made towards developing an integrated transport plan for the area, including the potential reintroduction of a shuttle bus service between Kings Hill and the station, timed to connect with peak rail services.
I look forward to meeting with partners again in September to continue building on today's progress. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this constructive discussion.
