This Week is Mental Health Awareness Week 2026.
Mental health support is an important part of my priorities, and this week is a timely reminder of how vital it is to ensure people can access the right help at the right time.
In Parliament, I have taken part in debates on suicide prevention and improving mental health support for children and young people, and I continue to press the Government on strengthening care, including clearer responsibilities for universities towards their students’ wellbeing.
Locally, I have been proud to champion the Blackthorn Trust in Maidstone, which supports hundreds of people living with mental health conditions through both NHS services and holistic therapies.
Personally, (as a keen tennis player!) I am a staunch believer in the positive impact that sport and physical activity can have on mental health.
This week, we are reminded of the importance of continuing to improve mental health support for everyone who needs it.
