It was an honour to attend the Defence Showcase this week in Parliament, as part of Armed Forces Week 2026.
This is a time for our nation to recognise and thank the serving personnel, Reservists, Veterans, Cadets and military families whose dedication, professionalism and sacrifice help keep us safe.
The Defence Showcase is a vital opportunity to see first-hand the equipment and technology which underpins our national defence, as well as the chance to speak directly with the men and women behind the uniform, and to hear about their experiences serving our country.
From these conversations, it is clear that there is an urgent need for the Government to provide clarity around future defence funding and planning, so that those who serve can plan, prepare and protect our national interests effectively.
I also want to recognise the outstanding service of our own 36 Engineers and Queen's Gurkha Regiments at Invicta Park Barracks in Maidstone. It is always a privilege to acknowledge their dedication and to thank them for all they do in service of our nation.
I am incredibly proud of our Armed Forces, and I will always stand firmly behind them.
