Maidstone and the Weald MP, Helen Grant, was encouraged by hearing good news about the County Town, when she attended an informal lunch meeting of local business leaders today.
Hosted by Maidstone's Town Centre Manager, Bill Moss, in the boardroom of the Maidstone Town Centre Management, Helen met representatives from Maidstone businesses, including independent and national traders, the media, night time economy, the police and HMP Maidstone. The Member of Parliament was greatly encouraged by the positive comments relating to the County Town, which she heard in conversation.
"Whilst everyone openly acknowledged that we are living in austere times and that business is not easy, I was greatly encouraged by the positive attitude and actions which have been undertaken to make Maidstone a great place to visit and to shop. Maidstone is faring better than expected in these tough times, due to the diversity of retail outlets and everyone doing all that they can, to encourage trade during the Christmas period and into the New Year." Said Helen.
