A passionate and robust local campaign opposing this development application has run for nearly three years and local Parliamentary Candidate Helen Grant has been a registered member since November 2007. Culminating in a public inquiry commencing on 13th October 2009 and ending 11 weeks later on December 23rd the Inquiry was formally closed by the Inspector, Mr Phillipson. He went on to say: 'Ladies and Gentleman, you have given us a lot to think about, and a difficult decision to make.' He then repeated what he had said on the first day of the Inquiry, that he had not seen so many people attend an Inquiry before, and said that the attendance had continued to amaze him throughout the 11 weeks, especially on the last day, just two days before Christmas.
The Planning Inspectorate have told the STOPKIG team that the Inspector's report is due to be handed over to the Secretary of State on 1st April 2010. Mary Richards, secretary of the STOPKIG campaign said "We believe we may have a July/August decision. However, the Planning Inspectorate went to great lengths to explain to me that an outcome by that time is by no means a certainty, so we'll just have to wait and see".
